New and Used Blog

Recently, I started submitting some of my work to literary agents, and it is a long, tiring, stressful process that I will most likely delve deeper into in future blog posts. For the purposes of this post, suffice-it to say that it has made me feel a little down.

I realized that part of why I feel down is because I’m not actually doing any writing. If the last year or so has taught me anything, it is that I can actually diet even though I never believed I could. Since that isn’t relevant to this blog, I’ll also say that the last year has taught me that while I forgot it for a number of years, I LOVE writing.  With my second book in the editing stages and me spending so much time promoting Jack Wrimo and the Ori of Flames, I haven’t been doing any writing recently.  And that makes me #sadface.

With those things in mind, I am going to start actually using this website as a blog. Hopefully, I will enjoy writing, and even more hopefully, you’ll enjoy reading. Also, with any luck, it will lead to some great discussion and get my brain working toward new story ideas. My goal is to add two or three posts a week.

    1. Great post! I posted at the begnnniig of the year my writing goals on my blog at blogger to try and hold myself accountable. I have quite a quest ahead of me and I’ll admit I’ve been shying away on the challenge even though I’ve been pretty good with working on the editing.I want my current WiP ready to be published by the end of the year. I also want to write two full first drafts (one probably during NaNoWriMo). So I try to write 500-1000 words a day on each project. Lately, I’ve only been focusing on my rewrites and editing on my current WiP.Last year’s NaNoWriMo was a big year for me. It was my fourth time participating and the first year I went in with an outline. My first and second year I only wrote a little more than 50,000. My third year I wrote a little over 70,000. This last year I wrote 95,000 words before NaNo was over. Everyone wanted me to push for 100k but I had finished the story. If I did then I would only be cluttering it with scenes and words that weren’t needed.I’ve been editing that story since January and it’s slowly but surely getting polished up. But I do need to work out a schedule where I can work on my edits and work on writing another draft. One of the things I’ve been trying to do is get up earlier to write before the whole house is awake. So! I guess I’ll take it one goal at a time! My goal is to get up earlier (7:30 AM should do) and write 1000 words on a new draft, and either write 1000 words in my current WiP or edit three pages.Let’s see if I can handle that! Thanks, wordbitches! Thanks, Elena!
