Hello, and welcome to Episode 108 of the Planning Period Podcast, your #EdBreakroom. I’m your host, Brad Shreffler.

I want to start with some thanks for your understanding with the show hiatus over the last month. I’m happy to say that we figured out our living situation and my son will be at what is rated as a good school on all those measures that none of us in education actually believe in. Anyways, with that at least mostly behind me, it’s time to get back to releasing the podcast.

This week on the show I am joined by Daniel Bauer. Daniel is the founder of Better Leaders, Better Schools, a blog, podcast and book for educational leaders looking to up their game in leading. He focuses his show on learning being for “ruckus makers,” and that concept really spoke to me, so I knew he’d be a great guest on the show.

Daniel and I talk about his Better Leaders, Better Schools journey, why leaders should be building up future leaders, why we should all dream bigger dreams, how important intentionality with planning a day can be, how important it is to invest in your own learning, and the power of collaboration over competition.

I would like to take a second to thank our sponsor for this episode, TardEase. TardEase is a new tardy tracking platform that makes it quick and easy for schools to process consequences when students are late to class. TardEase runs as a Google Sheets Add-On, so anyone can set it up, and works by scanning the ID numbers of late students into a Google Form. Then, each night, TardEase sends a formatted PDF of the consequences, with your school letterhead, to be sent home with students for their parents to sign, or given as a detention notice. TardEase is also significantly cheaper than other options on the market, with no special hardware to buy, and no per-student licensing fee. TardEase costs only $600 a year. You can learn more, and start a 30-day free trial now by visiting TardEase.com.

So, sit back and enjoy Episode 108 of the Planning Period Podcast, my interview with Daniel Bauer.
