Hello, and welcome to Episode 120 of the Planning Period Podcast, part of the OnPodcastMedia Network. I’m your host, Brad Shreffler.
This week on the show I am joined by Michael Matera. Michael is a 6th grade world history teacher and an expert in all things gamification. He believes in the importance of finding the joy in the journey, both in the classroom and in our lives. He is also the host of the WellplayED podcast, where he talks with other educators using gamification in their classes.
Michael and I talk about the state of education right now, how now is always the right time to start gamifying, the problems with a lack of engagement, how big data requirements have pulled away the relationship parts of education, how all teachers should take initiative and look around for the other tool, not just the popular one, and how we make ourselves into the teachers who got us here.
So, sit back and enjoy Episode 120 of the Planning Period Podcast, my interview with Michael Matera.
