Episode 44 – Taylor Mali of What Teachers Make

Hello, and welcome to Episode 44 of the Planning Period Podcast, your #EdBreakroom. I’m your host, Brad Shreffler.

This week on the show I am joined by Taylor Mali. As I’ve talked to people about Taylor Mali, they usually reply “Who’s that?” Then I say, have you heard of What Teachers Make? Then they say, oh yeah! So, the best way to intro this episode, I believe, is to open with Taylor himself performing that, and then straight into the interview.

Taylor and I talk about education funding, poetry, teaching metaphors, his awesome new product now on Kickstarter Metaphor Dice, and how much more we need to value teachers.

So, sit back and enjoy Episode 44 of the Planning Period Podcast, my interview with Taylor Mali.

Taylor, wow. Thank you so much. Even listening back to this, I’m speechless. I got to hear you read one of your poems just to me (and now my audience) and write a poem with you…It is absolutely surreal.

If you want to connect with Taylor, you can connect with him on Twitter @TaylorMali. More importantly, checkout his Kickstarter for the Metaphor Dice by clicking here. At the time I’m recording this intro, the Kickstarter has only been open for 3 days and is already over $18,000, which is awesome! I highly recommend the Make A Teacher’s Day option to get a set for yourself and one sent out to a lucky teacher elsewhere.

If you have comments or questions about the show, you can always connect with me on twitter, @BradShreffler. I love to hear from you. That’s also a great place to connect if you’d like to be a guest on the show.

Until next week…
